(Billy Bob Thornton/JD Andrew)
She came out of nowhere in a courtyard restaurant in Prague in the rain
It was just a little drizzle so we ordered us up two glasses of champagne
It had been about a decade or so since we'd suffered through some work-related pain
She was surprised by the compliment I gave her she said "I think you're insane"
She kissed me on the cheek and said let's go to Hemingway's and heve us a drink
We got in a cab and she leaned on my shoulder and gave me a wink
We sat real close in Hemingway's back room and I started to think
She's from her lost generation and I'm from mine, that's our only link
The beautiful girl,
The beautiful girl,
The beautiful girl realizes,
The sun also rises
It wasn't too long before the Absinthe kicked in and we started to dream
She grabbed me by the hand and pulled me through the crowd like we were swimming upstream
Her temporary flat was just two blocks away and she laid out her scheme
She had a five a.m flight to London but she loved to push to the extreme
She sang her songs and I sang mine and we made a grand plan
We swore we'd never let go again the look between us was mostly deadpan
The hopelessness of love between us cut like the blades of a fan
I know she's in May and she knows I'm already a December man
The beautiful girl,
The beautiful girl,
The beautiful girl realizes,
The sun also rises
She was a girl on fire with the whole wide world in the palm of her hand
I was a man with memories headed back home from a foreign land
She stuffed her backpack as I tried to wrestle with a golden band
The elevator door sprung open and we knew the dream was outmanned
The beautiful girl,
The beautiful girl,
The beautiful girl realizes,
The sun also rises
